Novak Djokovic could be left out of the Grand Slam by not being vaccinated against covid

  • The world tennis number one refused to declare if he was vaccinated against the covid

  • Novak Djokovic has reiterated on other occasions his rejection of the covid vaccine

  • The governor of Victoria has warned that he does not expect exceptions to be made in sanitary measures

Novak Djokovic this time could not succeed in their Graciet usual. The world tennis number one refused to declare if he was vaccinated against covid , but in Australia the authorities have warned that they will not allow people who do not have the complete vaccination schedule to enter the country . This would leave the Serbian tennis player out of the Grand.

The head of the government of the state of Victoria, Dan Andrews , said that he does not expect exceptions to the strict Australian measures against covid-19  for players who play the  Grand Slam in January.

With his usual demeanor, Djokovic said that "I still don't know if I will go to Melbourne," according to the Serbian newspaper Blic. "I will not reveal my status if I have been vaccinated or not, it is a private matter and an inappropriate question."

However, for the Australian authorities, Djokovic's opinion on covid and vaccines seems to give him the same.  "The virus does not care what your ranking in world tennis is or how many Grand Slam you have won," warned politician Dan Andrews, adding: "And if they get the visa, they would probably have to do a couple of weeks of quarantine , than others players would not have to do, "he said.
